Australian Contemporary Opera Co: Danielle de Niese in Concert
8 August @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm AEST

Danielle de Niese shot to fame at the age of nine as the youngest-ever winner of Young Talent Time before making her Metropolitan Opera debut in New York at 19. It was her sparkling performance as Cleopatra in David McVicar’s Glyndebourne production of Handel’s Giulio Cesare that turned her into an international star in 2005. Her Melbourne recital includes an aria from Jimmy López’s opera Bel Canto, songs by Sir James MacMillan, the prologue from Kurt Weill’s The Seven Deadly Sins, and Baroque music by Handel and Marcello. The second half includes songs by George Gershwin, Jerome Kern and John Denver.
