2024 IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition winner announced
Soprano Eden Shifroni, 24, has won the 2024 IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition (ASC). After yesterday’s finals (19 September) at The Concourse, Chatswood, Shifroni takes home the $30,000 Marianne Mathy Scholarship for her performance of Verdi’s Sul fil d’un soffio etesio (Falstaff) and Donizetti’s O luce di quest’anima (Linda di Chamounix). For her first place win, Shifroni also receives an opportunity to audition for Lyric Opera of Chicago’s professional artist-development program, a painted portrait of herself, a limited-edition Drago Marin Cherina sculpture and photographic prints from her Finals performance. Shifroni also won additional prizes at the finals; the 2MBS Fine Music Sydney Promotion Prize, giving her $1,000 in promotional credit at the station; and the $500 MOST Audience Choice Prize. Shifroni holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music Studies (Opera Performance) from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
