Celebrating Australia’s favourite art music in 2026!

Our 2026 Guide to Australian Art Music is a celebration of the depth and breadth of our community and their creations and an invitation to listen with curious ears and vote for your favourites. Our theme for 2026 is ‘A different kind of songbird’.

Limelight, in collaboration with Cameron Lam, curator of the monthly Australian Art Music playlist, invites readers to explore the music of Australian composers, improvisers and sound artists and vote for their top 10 tracks.

The votes will decide the 100 tracks in Limelight’s Novel 100 playlist, to be revealed in November for Australian Music Month.

As a thank you for voting, one participant will win a NFR for Komplete26 Collectors edition and a Komplete A61 Kontroller Keyboard thanks to Native Instruments to keep creating the music they love.

To help with your selection, Our 2026 Guide to Australian Art Music brings together one track from over 700 Australian composers. From Katy Abbott to Jonathan Zwartz, it’s a vibrant cross-section of voices spanning generations, styles and approaches. Explore the guide, listen widely and vote for your 10 favourite tracks.

Voting Closes 31 October, 11:59pm AEDT.
