Australian Chamber Orchestra: ACO Unleashed
24 June @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm ACST

Following the withdrawal of Patricia Kopatchinskaja due to injury, Artistic Director Richard Tognetti has come up with a brand-new program showcasing the ACO’s wealth of talent. Jointly directed by Satu Vänskä, who performs Ravel’s explosive Tzigane, and Helena Rathbone, who joins her and ACO newcomer Anna da Silva Chen in JS Bach’s Triple Violin Concerto, it also sees Timo-Veikko Valve explore his Finnish roots in Jaakko Kuusisto’s Cello Concerto, while Schubert’s Quartettsatz and Tognetti’s own arrangement of Beethoven’s Serioso round out this 50th-anniversary celebration.
Limelight Editor’s Choice
ACO Unleashed is an exhilarating celebration of the ACO at 50 – bold, virtuosic and utterly electrifying. Curated by Richard Tognetti to showcase the extraordinary talent within the ACO, this program highlights the individual artistry of ACO principals Helena Rathbone, Satu Vänskä and Timo-Veikko Valve, alongside our newest member, violinist Anna da Silva Chen, where classics by Bach, Beethoven, Schubert and Ravel, alongside Finnish master Jaakko Kuusisto, celebrate the ACO’s “unwavering energy and maverick imagination” (The Times, UK).
