Long Listen: Adrift with Gosti
5 October @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm AEDT

Embark on a spellbinding musical journey with Gosti, the trio redefining boundaries between world traditions, contemporary sounds, and improvisation. Featuring Tunji Beier (Indian and West African percussion), Philip Griffin (plucked strings), and Linsey Pollak (winds and inventive instruments), Gosti creates music that is both rooted in history and alive with innovation.
Formed in 2020 and renamed after their acclaimed WOMADelaide 2023 performance, the group’s program Adrift flows across Macedonian melodies, intricate rhythmic cycles, and soaring improvisations. Pollak’s original works become soundscapes, expanded through the trio’s collective artistry and decades of collaboration.
From the resonant pulse of mridangam and kanjira, to the colours of oud, rabab, clarinis, and Pollak’s one-of-a-kind creations, Gosti invites listeners into a sound world that is intimate, expansive, and utterly original. Expect an evening where virtuosity meets playfulness, and global traditions find vibrant new life in the present moment.
