Woodend Winter Arts Festival: Brahms, Sonatas for Piano & Violin
9 June @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm AEST

Brahms’ three sonatas for piano and violin, all composed during his mature years, are among his greatest creations. The first, opus 78 in G major, is a three-movement work written in the summers of 1878 and 1879. The second, opus 100 in A major, was composed in Switzerland during the summer of 1886. It is also in three movements, but the middle movement consists of six sections, alternating between slow movement and scherzo. The third, opus 108 in D minor, is a four-movement work written over the period 1886 to 1888.
