The Company Theatre: Fewer Emergencies
2 August @ 9:00 pm - 10:30 pm AEST

Fairytale nightmares; enter the fractured world of Fewer Emergencies, a postmodern experiment by English playwright Martin Crimp. This play consists of three short stories about modern life: A mother in an unhappy marriage. A killer and a postman. A boy named Bobby. The play is up for interpretation by you. It may have you questioning the foundations of western society, the power of violence and the media, the meanings of identity, family or love itself, or you may just leave with a sick feeling in your stomach that you can’t really explain and don’t want to talk about. Whatever you take from it, Fewer Emergencies is bound to be a provocative, unsettling and perhaps darkly amusing theatrical experience. Not for the faint of heart.
“Fewer Emergencies is a slender, beautifully made bridge, across an abyss.” – It’s On The House | “Marvellously ambitious… strange and memorable, blisteringly emotive… Most of all, one remembers the fierce intellectual spirit and formidable scope of the dramatic thinking.” – Time Out | “A chilling, deeply moving combination of menace and barely repressed pathos.” – Sunday Independent | “a triptych of vicious modern fairy tales from Martin Crimp that bring the nightmare right back home and stabs you through the soul” – The Guardian
