Brisbane Festival: Hannah Macklin
20 September @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm AEST

Accomplished vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and Brisbane local Hannah Macklin explores themes of dreaming, nature, regeneration, God, love, and the cosmos in her newest album.
Hannah and her band will thread together songs from her new album and elements of improvisation in this performance focused on dance, storytelling, and costume.
“IRTYU is the Ancient Egyptian word for blue; the colour of the heavens, representing divinity in ancient times. For me, it also means ‘I really, truly, yearn unconditionally’ (an acronym of my own creation). As I constantly adjust, blur out and re-adjust to the chaos of the world around me, finding a way to work within its many warped systems whilst simultaneously standing outside them to observe and comment on the madness; and to create artful activity which brings people peace and beauty; I return to this truth. I really, truly, yearn unconditionally. IRTYU is the name of my next studio release and my show for Brisbane Festival will be the debut performance of this work in full.” – Hannah Macklin
