Australian Youth Orchestra: Homecoming Concert
31 July @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm AEST

Following its triumphant tour of Europe, with dates at Vienna’s Musikverein and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, AYO returns to the Sydney Opera House under David Robertson. The program includes Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, played by Christian Li on the Youssupov-Hoffmann Guarneri del Gesù violin from 1737; Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade; Peter Sculthorpe’s Earth Cry featuring Kalkadunga man William Barton on didgeridoo; and Alice Chance’s Through Changing Landscapes. The AYO will wear performance outfits by Ikuntji Artists – the first art centre established for women of the Western Desert Art Movement.
