Tempo Rubato: Katia Mestrovic & Peter de Jager – Harp Piano
23 May @ 8:00 pm - 8:30 pm AEST

Peter de Jager and Katia Mestrovic present a fiery program for piano and harp.
The Harp Concerto Op. 25 (1956) by Argentinian composer Alberto Ginastera, is heavily influenced by native folk dance rhythms, with the frequent use of two against three. It uses both instruments percussively.
‘Ciclo Plateresco’ Op. 100 (1945) was written by Spanish composer, Joaquín Turina. The piece draws inspiration from the architectural Plateresque movement of late 15th century Spain. The style is described as richly ornamented and florid, like the work of a ‘platero,’ or silversmith.
The Sonata (1922) for Harp and Piano by Carlos Salzedo is pianistically virtuosic, and showcases a myriad of extended techniques on the harp. These techniques help build intensity, create interesting textures, and are visually impressive.
