Long Listen: Migrating Bird
3 October @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm AEST

Long Listen Festival 2025 opens with an evocative and immersive concert experience, Migrating Bird, led by acclaimed violinist and singer-songwriter Véronique Serret (Sydney). Known for her fearless blend of classical, contemporary, and experimental sounds, Serret takes audiences on a journey into the heart of the natural world through music that is both raw and contemplative.
Inspired by the forests of Mount Coot-tha and quiet Brookfield walks during the pandemic, Serret’s haunting violin and voice intertwine with the improvisations of Mary Rapp (bass), Richard Daniell (drums), and special guest William Barton (voice, didgeridoo, guitar). Together they create an expansive, atmospheric soundscape of stillness, movement, and transformation.
The evening opens with a set by Layla Havana, an emerging Sunshine Coast First Nations singer-songwriter whose storytelling carries deep connections to Country. Audiences are then invited to meet the artists, extending the spirit of connection that defines Long Listen.
