Brisbane Festival: Migrating Bird
14 September @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm AEST

Inspired by Australian landscapes and dedicated to living and learning from our natural world, Migrating Bird bridges the gap between contemporary and classical.
Renowned violinist Véronique Serret — one of Australia’s most celebrated musicians — uses her voice for the first time on her ARIA-nominated album, singing songs as offerings to the natural world. Special guest William Barton joins this intimate experience, bringing the haunting sounds of the yidaki/didgeridoo.
Migrating Bird was conceived during the pandemic years, where Véronique spent months on a property in Brookfield, Queensland and listening in Mount Coot-tha Forest. This became her refuge in the absence of society, and Mother Nature became her teacher.
Now this intimate and personal musical experience is brought to the stage with music that has been compared to the early work of Laurie Anderson and visuals by Samuel James. Migrating Bird offers an afternoon of deep listening and an immersion in the natural world.
Take a walk with Véronique and her band, close your eyes and listen deeply.
