The Oriana Chorale: Musica Domestica
29 June @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm AEST

Sally Whitwell, a Canberra composer (art)songwriter and pianist is both curating and performing in this concert. Sally has taken as her starting point “Write what you know” and has put together a concert program which takes the audience through the daily timetable of a working from home creative. Tasks are set around the rooms in which they occur: kitchen wakeup, bathroom self-care, working in the study, and relaxing in a favourite armchair in the living room. There are even some household chores. The program moves through the zones of the creative worker’s home, sunrise to sleep, so you can see how and where they make their stories for you to consume in your leisure hours.
The concert features work composed by Sally herself, as well as Michael Nyman, Samuel Barber, Eric Whitacre, two modern North American composers John Muelheisen and Stephen Hatfield, and of course a couple of surprises. Oriana will also premiere a work by their Emerging Composer in Residence, Aija Draguns.
