Opera Queensland: Opera Ball
18 April @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm AEST

Once again, Opera Queensland goes on the road to some of the region’s finest outback towns combining opera with ochre sunsets and great pubs! There’s a gala ball for those who like to glam up and a gathering under the night skies during Dark Sky Serenade. Or you can enjoy the camaraderie of a casual pint and a singalong. The creative team is led by conductor Vanessa Scammell and director Patrick Nolan, while the big-ticket events will feature a star turn from legendary coloratura soprano Sumi Jo. There’s also a chance to catch the OQ regional tour, Are You Lonesome Tonight (see above).

Come in your riding boots and ballgown and be ready for a gala like no other.
An evening of fine dining, sublime singing and dancing set among the coolibah tree-lined Thomson River at Smithy’s Camp. This relaxed, yet stylish gathering embodies the spirit and iconography of the Outback with just enough glitz to ensure the evening is a memorable one.
Atmospheric lighting sets the mood as some of Australia’s finest singers deliver a series of opera favourites throughout the 4-course meal, each perfectly paired to the culinary offering. After dessert, the dancefloor opens with an upbeat DJ set and you’re invited to continue the celebrations as the bar remains open while you dance the night away.
