Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra: Young Mannheim Symphonists 2025 QLD State Academy Concert
12 June @ 3:30 pm - 5 July @ 4:30 pm AEST

Fresh from a tour of regional Queensland in Mozart’s Clarinet, the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra holds its first Young Mannheim Symphonists Academies for 2025. Coached in Historically Informed Performance by the orchestra’s players, this year’s cohort will perform Haydn’s Drumroll Symphony from 1795 and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1, first performed in 1800. Both are treats for timpani lovers, the first with its thrilling opening solo, the second punctuated by a dotted rhythm throughout the slow movement – an innovation at the time. Rachael Beesley conducts.
Limelight Editor’s Choice
The Young Mannheim Symphonists youth orchestra program is a unique and exciting program designed to give secondary and tertiary students and emerging musicians the opportunity to discover for themselves the magic of approaching music with historical performance style.
At the Young Mannheim Symphonists 2025 QLD State Academy, successful applicants spend four days participating in workshops, tutorials and orchestral rehearsals. The Academy culminates in a public concert in which the Young Mannheim Symphonists perform the repertoire they have prepared throughout the week.
Don’t miss this opportunity to see some of Australia’s best young musicians in concert!
