As part of the ABC’s celebration of all things piano in 2025, the national broadcaster and Piano Plus Australia has committed to delivering up to 20 pre-loved pianos to a town near you.
Nominations are now open for people to pitch for a free piano to be installed in the public space of their choice.
Once delivered, the hope is that the instrument will bring people together to listen, play and appreciate.

Nominations close on 20 April. A selection panel will then review all submissions and choose the winning towns which will be announced at the Classic 100 in Concert on 21 June.
The initiative partners a new ABC series The Piano, which follows the journey of everyday pianists invited to tickle the ivories in whatever style they like at busy locations across Australia – while being secretly observed by two expert piano players, Harry Connick Jr. and Andrea Lam.
The Piano will be available to stream on ABC iview from 4 May.
