Adelaide Fringe: 15 Year Old Elon Musk the 90s karaoke musical
3 March @ 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm ACDT

‘15 Year Old Elon Musk: the 90’s karaoke musical’ is the world premiere of a bold, one-person performance from writer, director and performer St. John Smith. It goes back to the real-life moment when a teenage Elon Musk is in hospital, recovering after a vicious beating from a bully at school. But things take a fantastical twist when, like in ‘A Christmas Carol’, Elon is woken by a ghost named … Kevin. This is Kevin Carter, a real-life photojournalist and fellow South African who took a famous photo of the 1990’s famine in Sudan, who needs Elon to stop the next one — that will happen in 2026, when the teenager is the world’s richest man. ‘Elon’ is an ambiguous modern fable of satire, dark comedy, and audience participation in karaoke singing and magic tricks, all guided by the wisdom of 90’s sages like Natalie Imbruglia and The Notorious B.I.G.
