Australian National Academy of Music: ANAM Recital – Jack Overall
18 August @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm AEST

As a musician’s instrumental proficiency develops, so too does their artistic taste and temperament. Each ANAM musician’s recital is a snapshot in time – simultaneously summarising their year of training and revealing glimpses of their future selves. What music excites them? How does their art help them understand the world better? Hear what the next generation of virtuosi have to say, and how, in the 2025 ANAM Recital series.
In 2025 the ANAM Set is back. Musicians in their 3rd year of training present a specially commissioned work as part of their recital program.
Of Poets and Philosophers
“Throughout history, many of the world’s great writers have drawn inspiration from music—think Tolstoy’s Kreutzer Sonata or Murakami’s Norwegian Wood. But what is it that draws composers toward the written word? In this program for cello and piano, we explore the ideas of some of music’s great thinkers…” — Jack Overall
