Tone List: Audible Edge ’26 — A festival of exploratory music (Sunday Day/Night)
3 May @ 11:00 am - 4 May @ 8:00 pm AWST

Artist-led, international and delightfully unpredictable, this annual festival of exploratory music is housed in Fremantle’s Victoria Hall, creating a space for virtuosic and “anti-virtuosic” improvisation, forward-thinking club sets and participatory play. Seed-funded artists include composer Simon Charles and poet John Kinsella, experimental electronic music producers Lia T and R. Glacken, place-based sound artist amby downs and flautist Saskia Willinge, alongside trumpeter Uma Volkmer and saxophonist Naoko Uemoto.

Join Rational Playtime and Umbel for a workshop on microtonal tuning in the morning – sustain some weird harmonies together and feel some cosmic alignments in your brain. Or just sit with a coffee & pastry and your festival mates in the courtyard. Lunch is once again hosted by our pals at Suku down the road with a discount if you show your ticket.
Performances start after lunch with the resonant drones and subtle electronics of Ira Hadžić, performing on gongs. alicec absorbs the whole weekend with a solo silent dance: a rhapsody of gravity, place and the body. Seed Fund artists Lia T & R. Glacken explore soft-edged concréte and ambient textures together in their newly commissioned collaboration.
Afterwards, we let it out with a gentle boogie that descends into jagged, shapeshifting bass music; the after party at the party. Starting with local selectors Nina BC & Montana, Bali-based producer Rais-sa Febriani pivots to a live set of driving, textured rhythm.
At the top of the program is the legendary Emelyne, staple of the experimental edge of Naarm’s club scene, sending us off with an extended set full of deep attention and decisiveness.
