Melbourne Recital Centre: Badieh – Songs from Greater Khorasan
6 November 2025 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm AEDT

Experience the power and beauty of traditional music from the borderlands of Iran and Afghanistan as Badieh brings to life the rich and rarely heard folk music traditions of Greater Khorasan.
This deeply immersive and transportive experience combines traditional instruments with centuries-old melodies, creating a sonic journey that’s both meditative and emotionally powerful, a perfect antidote to modern life.
What sets Michel Gasco and Mohammad Miraghazadeh’s performance apart is Badieh’s rare authenticity and attention to cultural detail. Joined by the accomplished tabla player Pranav Ramji, this is a respectful and meticulously researched revival of a fading oral tradition, performed with cinematic sensitivity and contemporary resonance.
