Belvoir St Theatre: Belvoir Theatre: Redfern Renaissance
17 January @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm AEDT

THE STORIES THAT SPARKED A MOVEMENT
THE VOICES THAT STILL ECHO
Redfern Renaissance returns to Belvoir St Theatre for its second year as part of Sydney Festival 2026!
This powerful Blak Out program, curated by Belvoir’s Community Liaison Coordinator and acclaimed Wiradjuri Yuin actor Angeline Penrith (Wayside Bride, Winyanboga Yurringa), honours the storytellers and trailblazers who built the foundations of Black theatre in Australia.
Running alongside Dear Son in the Upstairs Theatre, a production also grounded in First Nations people and storytelling, Redfern Renaissance has expanded in 2026 to include six performances, workshops, panels, and live readings.
Join us in celebrating the artists, the stories, and the radical community that sparked a cultural revolution in Redfern, and continue to shape Blak futures through art, activism, and collective memory.
