John Frost for Crossroads Live Australia: Chicago the Musical
5 July @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm AEST
Murder, greed, corruption . . . and All that Jazz! Set in 1920’s Chicago, playground of Al Capone, Kander and Ebb’s 1975 musical is a corrosively funny satire of America’s justice system and media circus, as well as a love song to showbiz. Ann Reinking’s sleek 1996 Broadway revival is back for a new Australian tour, opening in Perth. The cast is led by Lucy Maunder as celebrity-craving chorus girl Roxy Hart, Zoë Ventura as ageing vaudevillian Velma Kelly, and Anthony Warlow as the charismatic, scheming lawyer Billy Flynn.
Limelight Editor’s Choice
The longest-running musical on Broadway, this scorching hot masterpiece is coming to Capitol Theatre.
Created by the musical theatre talents of John Kander, Fred Ebb and legendary choreographer Bob Fosse, it’s no wonder CHICAGO has been honoured with six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards and a Grammy.
With a glittering score that includes All That Jazz and Razzle Dazzle, Chicago truly is “sexy, pin-sharp and flawless” Sydney Morning Herald. The original and the best, Chicago is back. It would be a crime to miss it!
