Theatre Royal: Don Giovanni
28 August @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm AEST

Don Giovanni doesn’t know it yet, but today will be his last.
Lothario, lover and libertine, Don Giovanni is led by desire above all else.
He’s the kind of guy who pursues a bride on their wedding day and breaks into women’s bedrooms. He’s also a murderer.
An opera in two acts, with music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and a libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte, Don Giovanni is a darkly comedic tale of seduction, suspicion and the brazen actions of a scoundrel.
Originally based on the Spanish legend of Don Juan and set in mid-17th century Seville, Opera Australia’s new production shifts the debauchery to a sumptuous 1950s setting – a mid-century fable exploring the cost of refusing accountability.
The production is directed by Michael Gow (writer of the seminal Australian play Away) and features a cast of some of Opera Australia’s finest singers, performing alongside a live chamber orchestra.
