Tempo Rubato: Echoes of Us
15 June @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm AEST

Rio Xiang on piano and Cedar Newman on violin perform sonatas by Beethoven and Franck at Tempo Rubato’s ‘Sunday Mattutino’.
Rio and Cedar share a musical heritage that brings them joy in performing sonata repertoire together. Rio has been a long-term student of Natalia Ricci, while Cedar studied piano with Gian-Franco Ricci for eight years. These relationships have nurtured the beauty of conveying stories and emotional landscapes through music. They are thrilled to present their first public performance together at Tempo Rubato.
Rio has received numerous international accolades, including solo appearances with various orchestras across Asia, the United States, and Australia. He placed second in the 2024 Australian National Piano Awards. Cedar studies at the Manhattan School of Music under Prof. Lucie Robert and is grateful for the support of the President’s Scholarship. She recently attended the Engers Academy in Frankfurt, where she received the Troussov Award.
