UKARIA: Emily Sun and Joseph Havlat
28 July @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm AEST
Since winning the Royal Overseas League’s Commonwealth Musician of the Year in 2016 and the ABC Young Performer of the Year in 2018, Australian violinist Emily Sun has established an international presence as an exceptional soloist and chamber musician. Her ‘searing and poetic’ tone (Guardian) has echoed through the vaults of London’s Buckingham Palace and Wigmore Hall, the Louvre in Paris and the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow. The 2024 season sees Emily continue as Adelaide Symphony Orchestra Artist-in-Association (with two programs as soloist), as well as her concerto debut with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.
London-based Australian pianist Joseph Havlat has performed in major concert venues around the UK, Europe, America, Japan and Australia, and has established himself as a leading interpreter of new music. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London (where he now teaches), receiving awards for exceptional merit in studentship and the highest recital mark for a postgraduate pianist.
