Freiburg Baroque Orchestra: Freiburg Baroque Orchestra
28 March @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm AEDT

Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto is beloved by audiences and arguably one of the greatest clarinet works ever written. Composed only a few weeks before Mozart’s death, this is music of sublime beauty and depth. Made famous by its use in the film Out of Africa, audiences will hear it anew performed by Lorenzo Coppola on historical clarinet. The program concludes with Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.23, composed in the same year The Marriage of Figaro premiered. Overflowing with lyrical charm and unforgettable melodies, this joyful masterpiece will be brought to life by the ACO’s longtime friend, Kristian Bezuidenhout.
The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra is widely considered one of the leading period instrument ensembles in the world. We are thrilled to present them in two concerts in their ACO On The Pier debut, directed by their musical director Gottfried von der Gotz and featuring ACO friend and collaborator, pianist Kristian Bezuidenhout, and historical clarinet virtuoso Lorenzo Coppola.
This is a unique opportunity to see the acclaimed orchestra in the intimate acoustic of The Neilson, performing two programs that celebrate the pure genius and timeless appeal of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
