: Fremantle Chamber Orchestra & Kashtany Duo & Ukrainian Roztiazhka Cossack Dancers
15 March @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm AWST

Locatelli’s Il pianto d’Arianna (the weeping of Ariadne) uses the fragment of a lost Monteverdi opera telling of Theseus’s abandonment of Ariadne. A solo violin sobs on Ariadne’s behalf. The final Largo, strewn with silences, eventually twists into the hopeful smile of a major key. Mozart and Beethoven contemporary Leopold Koželuch’s Symphony in G Minor is one of his most dramatic and mature symphonies, the only one in a minor key, showcasing his use of contrast and expressive intensity. Then virtuoso Kashtany Duo Paul Wright (violin) and Myroslav Gutej (accordion) and the Roztiazhka Ukrainian Cossack Dancers in their traditional costumes join FCO in fiery Hungarian, Romanian, Ukrainian Jewish, Moldovan and Gibsy dances.
This is the 1st collaboration of the Kashtany Duo, Roztiazhka Ukrainian Cossack Dancers and Fremantle Chamber Orchestra’s in its 21-year history.
