Carriageworks: Hamlet Camp
16 January 2026 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm AEDT

Following a sold-out premiere in January last year, Brendan Cowell, Ewen Leslie and Toby Schmitz reunite for a night of “poetry, pith and play” in Hamlet Camp. The trio, who co-wrote the play, star as three actors, each of whom has played Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Thrown together in a rehab facility to help them address their addiction to playing The Dane, they embark on “an intimate self-help slaughterhouse session of soliloquies, swords and sublime word play”. Hamlet Camp wrestles with the conundrum that playing the famous role is both a blessing and a lifelong curse.
