Recently returned from a season in New York, the ever-popular Circus Oz presents its latest show as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Directed by Nicci Wilks, who co-devised the production with the multigenerational performing ensemble, the wonderfully silly but skilful display of madcap, joyous acrobatics is backed by a raucous live band.

Packed with big skills, sly jokes, sudden detours, musical outbursts and the kind of playful pandemonium that erupts when a roomful of dazzling – and wonderfully silly –circus brains collide onstage… and off. Look out audience!

It’s a fast, funny jumble of jaw-dropping tricks, deadpan silliness and glorious physical chaos, all fuelled by a raucous live soundtrack played by a delightfully disobedient band. The performers bounce between brilliance and nonsense with equal commitment, hurling themselves (and various objects) skyward just because they can.

Mixing frou-frous, frills and fandangles with joyful acrobatics, live music, larrikin comedy and sheer physical audacity. One minute the cast are balancing on improbable things, the next they’re launching themselves into the air with suspicious confidence and absolutely no respect for gravity’s feelings.
