In The Presence of Absence is Tarab Ensemble’s first concert in SA showcasing the beauty and diversity of classical Arabic music.

For the first time in Adelaide and for one show only, Tarab Ensemble is presenting its unique blend of several styles of the music of the Arab world, poetry recitals, calligraphy and storytelling.

Unveiling the treasures of the music of the Arab world, In the Presence of Absence” is a two-hour concert (with an interval of a fundraiser auction) of a variety of Arabic music styles as an artistic response to tumultuous times. Through a vibrant tapestry of Arab musical styles (including Andalusi Muwashah, Syrian Qudoud, 20th-Century Classics, Longa, Sufi and more), Tarab Ensemble’s performances are a testament to the power of classical Arabic music in defying time and space while fostering empathy, hope, beauty and unity.
