Melbourne International Jazz Festival: James Bowers Quartet + Visions of Nar + Hilary Geddes
21 October 2025 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm AEDT

Prolific pianist James Bowers delivers his My Quartet Album featuring drummer Shun Ishiwaka, bassist Marty Holoubek and trumpeter Ben Harrison in a fearless exploration of warped groove, jagged swing, and raw beauty – pushing boundaries with playful intensity and striking originality.
Visions of Nar unites pianist Zela Margossian, saxophonist-composer Jeremy Rose, and tabla master Bobby Singh in a rich blend of jazz, Armenian folk and global contemporary sounds. Intricate rhythms and free-flowing improvisation define their timeless yet forward-moving sonic landscapes.
Hilary Geddes’ Redleaf merges jazz, indie, and experimental influences in an emotionally resonant set driven by her stellar quartet. With pianist Novak Manojlovic, double-bassist Maximillian Alduca and drummer Alexander Inman-Hislop, Geddes delivers bold, improvisation-rich music with heart and nuance.
This is the vanguard of Australian jazz in an unforgettable night of innovative music from some of our most creative minds.
