Melbourne International Film Festival: Julia Holter – The Passion of Joan of Arc
11 August @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm AEST

Combining Carl Theodor Dreyer’s 1928 French silent film The Passion of Joan of Arc with a spellbinding score by Julia Holter, this event will see Holter craft an immense sonic tapestry-performed live with musicians Corey Fogel, Sarah Belle Reid & Tashi Wada, and singers of The Consort of Melbourne. Conducted by renowned international orchestrator, UK-based Hugh Brunt.
This is your chance to experience the breathtaking sounds of one of today’s most remarkable artists alongside the intensely expressive world of Dreyer’s iconic masterpiece. The film is a haunting recollection of the French saint’s trial featuring one of the greatest ever lead performances by Renée Jeanne Falconetti.
Julia Holter is a Los Angeles-based composer, singer-songwriter, and producer, whose music crosses elements of art pop, chamber pop, baroque, experimental and ambient.
