Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra: Messiah
9 December 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm AEDT
Handel’s choral classic is the ultimate musical stocking filler. Not only does it include For unto us a Child is born and I know that my Redeemer liveth, but the Hallelujah Chorus has become as much a part of the festive season as turkey and fairy lights. Soprano Jacqueline Porter, alto Cassandra Seidemann, tenor Paul McMahon and bass Jeremy Kleeman are joined by the TSO Chorus, with Graham Abbott conducting.
Limelight Editor’s Choice
Hallelujah! The concert year comes to a close with everyone’s seasonal favourite, Messiah. Handel’s choral classic is as much a part of Christmas as lights and decorations, snacks for Santa and gifts under the tree. The work that has given us such beloved excerpts as ‘For unto us a Child is born’, ‘I know that my Redeemer liveth’ and the ‘Hallelujah Chorus’, is a whole lot better when experienced in full. Put Messiah on your Christmas shopping list and fill your heart with a whole lot of joy this festive season.
