National Capital Orchestra: New World
28 September @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm AEST

Join the NCO for an evocative afternoon of sound and storytelling at the magnificent Snow Concert Hall, under the direction of Music Director Louis Sharpe.
The NEW WORLD concert features three extraordinary works, including world-class performances by local composers and soloists, alongside one of the most beloved symphonies ever written. The program opens with the world premiere of Riparian, a vivid new work by 2025 Artist-In-Focus composer Ben Hoadley, inspired by the dynamic ecosystems of riverbanks.
The spotlight then turns to Lake Ice: (Missed Tales No. 1) by celebrated Australian composer Mary Finsterer. Guest soloist Kyle Ramsay-Daniel brings nuance and power to this haunting double bass concerto, exploring the stillness and mystery beneath frozen surfaces.
The concert culminates with Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, From the New World—a timeless masterpiece of lyrical beauty, longing and discovery, brought to life in one unforgettable performance.
