Omega Ensemble: Starburst
18 February @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm AEDT

Heralding an exhilarating start to Omega Ensemble’s 2026 Season, this program pulsates with the idiosyncratic sounds of the world around us, traversing the human experience in all its wonderful chaos and brilliance.
Led by Shostakovich’s brilliant Concerto in C minor for Piano, Trumpet and Strings, a whirlwind of jazz hall swagger, classical fanfare, and streetwise energy, this concert also features Gerald Finzi’s tender Clarinet Concerto and Jessie Montgomery’s radiant Starburst, a constellation of sound where jazz, folk, and classical threads collide in vibrant motion.
This concert also marks the world premiere of Lachlan Skipworth’s new double concerto for clarinet and trumpet, a continuation of a dynamic creative partnership with trumpeter David Elton. Written for David Rowden and David Elton, the piece brings two solo voices into dazzling interplay, showcasing the vivid musical voice of one of Australia’s most compelling composers.
