Adelaide Symphony Orchestra: Origins of the Universe, Of Life, Of Species, Of Humanity
8 November @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm ACDT

In association with Big Sing McLaren Vale, we venture into wine region to celebrate the beautiful science of our origins. A mass of voices joins the orchestra in a major new oratorio by Nicholas Buc. Conceived by evolutionary geneticist Jenny Graves, who co-wrote the libretto with the poet Leigh Hay, Origins traces our story from the Big Bang to the emergence of our fragile humanity. Uniting words, music and imagery, this special event explores themes of love for our planet, joy at the inventiveness of nature, and alarm at the self-inflicted dangers faced by humanity. Each year, Big Sing invites singers from across South Australia and beyond to rehearse and perform alongside professional musicians, creating not just a concert, but a powerful, shared experience of connection, music-making, and community.
