Musica Viva Australia: Piotr Anderszewski
16 November @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm AEST

Fresh from his triumphant performances at the Edinburgh Festival, pianist Piotr Anderszewski brings his intelligence, restless curiosity and joy to Brahms’ 12 pieces from Opp. 116– 119, selections from JS Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier Book 2 and Beethoven’s Sonata No. 31 in A-flat major. Known for his uncompromising standards – he famously walked out of the 1990 Leeds Piano Competition because he was unhappy with his playing – Anderszewski has been described by The List as “modest in demeanour but colossal in what he achieves”. See for yourself.

He can zoom in, finessing the tiniest detail while, at the same time, finding the grand architecture which underpins the work.
For his first recital tour of Australia in over a decade this unconventional hero of the keyboard plays Schubert, Schumann and Bach.
