Sydney Festival: Post-Orientalist Express
9 January @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm AEDT

After acclaimed seasons in Paris, Berlin and Seoul, celebrated South Korean choreographer Eun-Me Ahn brings her kaleidoscopic reimagining of Asian cultures to Sydney Festival. Known internationally as the enfant terrible of Seoul, Ahn draws on traditions from Okinawa, Bali and Manila, transforming them into exhilarating new dance languages that both celebrate and subvert clichéd concepts of Asian cultures.
Performed by a powerhouse ensemble of eight dancers, the production bursts with more than 90 extraordinary costumes (all designed by Ahn herself) that ignite the stage in a whirlwind of colour, humour and satire. The result is contemporary dance as cultural commentary – vivid, audacious and unafraid.
