Student Music Collective: Première Rhapsodie
26 October @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm AEDT

To conclude a spectacular year of orchestral and chamber projects, the Student Music Collective’s October concert will feature the Secret Orchestral Society, with clarinetist Reuben Allen, 2nd year Performance student at the UTAS Conservatorium of Music, as the soloist in Claude Debussy’s Première Rhapsodie. SMC are striving to provide an annual soloist opportunity for a student at the UTAS Conservatorium of Music. Reuben is the second recipient of this opportunity, following Miffy Wang’s performance of Mendelssohn’s 1st Piano Concerto in 2024.
Under leading Tasmanian musician William Newbery’s baton, SOS are excited to present Hobart’s second performance of Symphony No.1 by Florence Price, having been published in 2020 after spending several decades lost, along with a presentation of the overture from Otto Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor.
