Piano+: Songs and Dances
25 October 2025 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm AEDT

Held at artist Tim Storrier’s former home, this year’s festival has been curated by Mark Coughlan and features fellow pianists Jeonghwan Kim, Reuben Tsang and Wynona Wang. Together, they will perform repertoire from Mozart to Greg Anderson. Soprano Rachelle Durkin joins them in Richard Strauss’s Morgen! and Bishop’s Lo, here the gentle lark, while Sydney Symphony Orchestra Associate Concertmaster Harry Bennetts plays Franck’s Violin Sonata. The weekend closes with Johann Strauss’s Blue Danube and, fittingly, Irving Berlin’s I Love a Piano.
Limelight Editor’s Choice
You will be taken on a journey through rhythm, melody, and movement in this program of ‘Songs and Dances’. Chopin’s Mazurkas draw you into the soulful spirit of Polish folk dance, before Franck’s passionate violin sonata sweeps you up in waves of lyrical intensity. Grainger’s witty ‘In Dahomey’ adds a playful spark, while the songs of Barber and Quilter offer moments of tenderness and reflection. Debussy’s ‘Suite Bergamasque’ surrounds you with impressionistic beauty, and Weber’s ‘Invitation to the Dance’ brings the performance to a joyful and elegant close, leaving you immersed in the sheer delight of music in motion.
