Ballet Preljocaj: Swan Lake
6 June @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm AEST

After waiting 50 years to tackle Swan Lake – his “Everest” – French choreographer Angelin Preljocaj unveiled his reworking of Tchaikovsky’s ballet in 2020, setting it in a dystopian future of corporate greed and ecological decline. Some parts of Ivanov’s original ‘White Acts’ were retained, coupled with Preljocaj’s own choreography which The New York Times likened to that of modern dance pioneer Merce Cunningham. Not a bad recommendation, and with Johannes Fritzsch conducting the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, it’s bound to sound good too.
