Malthouse Theatre: The Birds
2 June @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm AEST

The weather has changed and the birds are behaving oddly. It’s becoming scary. One family sounds a warning – but is anyone listening? Malthouse Theatre presents a new stage version of Daphne du Maurier’s short story, immortalised on screen by Alfred Hitchcock. Adapted by Louise Fox for a solo performer and directed by Matthew Lutton, the production will star Paula Arundell as the farmer’s wife, who tells the story and embodies all the other characters. The audience will experience the visceral production through headphones, with a nightmarish soundscape heightening the Gothic horror. (Read our interview with Fox on page 51.)
