Bloomshed: The Importance of Being Earnest
8 August @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm AEST
The lacey gloves are off.
A scandalous revival of Oscar Wilde’s trivial comedy, Earnest is Bloomshed’s latest take-down of high society. Frills, finery, and frivolity. This delightfully self-aware adaptation transforms Wilde’s irreverent satire into a salacious display of gross indecency. It’s plush punk. Bumbry(ing). Cucumber sandwiches in unseemly places. Welcome to the Wilde side.
Green Room award-winning theatre collective Bloomshed (2023’s Animal Farm at Darebin Speakeasy and A Dodgeball Named Desire at fortyfivedownstairs) create high-octane political comedies. Mixing big political ideas with entertaining and accessibly storytelling, Earnest is a delicious mix of diatribe, dance breaks, and debauchery.
