Spiritworks: The King’s Singers
18 March @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm AEDT
The award-winning British a cappella choral group returns to Australia six years after a sold-out 2018 tour. The group celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2018, but thanks to its Doctor Who-like ability to permanently regenerate, it retains its quota of fresh faces and trademark blend. In other words, its swanky sound is as classy as it was back in 1968. Since then, it has commissioned over 200 works from composers including Australia’s own Malcolm Williamson, former Master of the Queen’s Music. The program comprises popular songs spanning 500 years. Judging from last year’s album releases, expect a bit of Byrd, a bit of Ligeti and even a bit of Disney.
