Queensland Symphony Orchestra: The Lost Birds
9 June @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm AEST
A celebration of their magnificence, and an elegy for their extinction: American composer Christopher Tin’s The Lost Birds is a haunting reminiscence on the artistry and wonder of nature’s feathered friends. Preeminent British vocal collective VOCES8 join our musicians for this special collaboration. In this heart-rending portrait, hope, peace and renewal nestle in the branches of the orchestra and resonate through the intimacy of the human voice. Violinist Jack Liebeck will join our musicians to perform The Lark Ascending, Vaughan Williams’ mesmerising tribute to its’ flutter and flight. Soar above the noise of the everyday and into a pastoral haven rich with reflection, as conductor Barnaby Smith illuminates a breathtaking aviary.
