Neglected Musicals: The Pajama Game
8 November @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm AEDT

Winner of the 1955 Tony Award for Best Musical—and more than 50 years later, the Tony Award for Best Revival—The Pajama Game is a timeless tale of love, labour, and laughter. With an fantastic score by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross the musical features beloved theatre standards including Hey There, Steam Heat, and Hernando’s Hideaway.
Set in the early 1950s, the story takes place at the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory, where tensions rise as workers campaign for a 7½ cent pay increase. Amid the unrest, sparks fly between the factory’s new superintendent, Sid Sorokin, and Babe Williams, head of the union grievance committee—setting the stage for both a labour showdown and a romantic tug-of-war.
