Victorian Opera: The Pirates of Penzance
31 January @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm AEDT

Stuart Maunder directs this rib-tickling production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s classic comedy in which an accidental pirate apprentice gets caught out by having been born on 29 February in a leap year. Nicholas Jones is the ever-dutiful Frederic, with Nina Korbe as his warbling beloved Mabel, Ben Mingay as the swashbuckling Pirate King, Antoinette Halloran as the long-suffering, hard-of-hearing nursemaid Ruth, and Richard Piper as the very model of a modern major-general.
Limelight Editor’s Choice
Set sail for a swashbuckling summer as Gilbert & Sullivan’s uproariously silly operetta The Pirates of Penzance storms the stage of the Palais Theatre.
Bursting with much-loved music, the score will leave you grinning with classics including I am the Very Model of a Modern Major General, Poor Wandering One and I am the Pirate King.
Following their star performances in Victorian Opera’s Sweeney Todd, Ben Mingay and Antoinette Halloran lead the high-seas hijinks as the Pirate King and the long-suffering Ruth.
