Melbourne Shakespeare Company: The Taming of the Shrew
28 February @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm AEDT

This March, Melbourne Shakespeare Company kicks off their 2026 season with a vibrant outdoor musical production of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of Central Park, Malvern, this lively new adaptation blends witty wordplay, toe-tapping tunes, and dazzling choreography to turn one of Shakespeare’s most controversial comedies into a sharp, surprising, and hilarious battle of equals.
In this reimagining, the audience decides who will plays Shrew and who does the taming. No two shows are ever the same. With roles swapped, power dynamics flipped, and the cast improvising in real time, The Taming of the Shrew becomes a thrilling experiment in love, wit, and control.
Directed by Emma Austin, the production reimagines Shakespeare’s classic comedy as a joyful, music-filled spectacle—perfect for a balmy Melbourne evening.
