In a coup for Perth audiences, Eddie Perfect’s new musical has its world premiere at WAAPA. Developed over three years, with the support of the Minderoo Foundation, Tivoli Lovely will be performed by the second and third-year Music Theatre students under the direction of Dean Bryant – who like Perfect is a WAAPA graduate. When an 85-year-old ex-chorus girl is teamed up with a troubled teen for a school project, she tells her story in a dance musical, which takes audiences back to the Australian Tivoli circuit of 1954. The hilarious black comedy is a love letter to Australia’s theatrical past (read our interview with Bryant on page 44).
