And now for something completely different. Chamber Pot Opera, the company that famously performed in the ladies’ lavatories in Sydney’s Queen Victoria Building, is back with another site-specific pastiche. This time it all takes place at Sydney’s Mortuary Station – a sandstone railway station in the heart of Chippendale. In playwright Thomas De Angelis’ tale, a group of frustrated commuters – including a young lawyer, a pair of teenagers and a rough sleeper – grapple with everyday issues, train delays and an officious station master, all the while putting across some of opera’s best loved arias.
